Finally we are ready to leave home for the second time and leave for our trip around the world! Read about our short term plans in Bangkok and our long term plans in Asia.
Off to Asia
Today we are going to restart our trip around the world, our one sick dream, starting on a different continent. Although we still have a lot to explore in South America we decided to go to Asia first. Mainly because the weather there is supposed to be better now than it is in South America.
In our travelling gear we have a handy little book stating the best traveling times for every country per continent. In a lot of places on the southern hemisphere it is raining season now, so not the best time to travel there but after some detective work Indonesia appears to be dry from the start of June. So this is where we will start.
Travel itinerary for this week
We are always looking for the best and cheapest tickets to get to our destination and this time it appears to be via Bangkok, leaving from Köln, Germany. Saving us 140 euros per person and 23 hours of travelling time! Once we are in Bangkok we will have a look at flights heading for Bali. Until that time we are welcome to stay at a couchsurfer who has been at our place about a year ago, together with his brother and a friend. We sure hope that he can show us some of the city because we have been told the city is the size of the Netherlands. So a personal guide would be more than welcome and above all it will be a pleasure to meet him again.
From Bali we would like to visit the Gili islands and the neighbouring island Lombok. Afterwards we slowly travel west through Indonesia. From July onwards, the rainy season should be over in Malaysia and Singapore so we’re planning to go there. From August onwards in almost all of Asia the rainy season is over.
Travel itinerary for Asia
We are also planning to visit these countries in Asia:
-
Nepal
-
Myanmar
-
Vietnam
-
Thailand
-
Laos
-
Cambodia
And maybe these countries, depending on the costs and distance to get there:
-
China
-
Japan
-
Tibet
-
Mongolia
-
Philippines
-
Bhutan
If you have any advice on sights in any of the countries above, make sure to leave a reply!
Excitement at the airport
By now Herman (Milou’s dad) and Rineke (Riny’s mom) dropped us off at Köln Airport and we are excitingly waiting for our flight. This time saying goodbye was a little bit less hard, because now we have some experience and we know we can be back very quickly if necessary. On the other hand, we are not as excited to go as last time because of mixed emotions. We are still trying to cope with the memories of why we had to go back home and our stay here. Hopefully this will change soon after we touch Asian ground.
